Just when you were past the pain of the query letter: WHAM! Synopsis suckerpunch! No, not every literary agent asks for a synopsis, but – alas – enough do that it’s worth writing one. One of (if not the) most painful and important parts of the synopsis-writing process is the editing phase, so take a load off and let WTAQ work its magic.
This service is for:
Any fiction book writer or short story writer with their eyes set on traditional publication. WTAQ edits synopses for books of all fiction genres.
Your editor will target:
🔨 Mechanics – Spelling, grammar, punctuation
💎 Style – Voice★, word choice
⚔️ Story – Plot clarity, characters, structure, stakes/conflict
★As a general rule, synopses do not require voice. The synopsis’ purpose isn’t to hook the literary agent (that’s what query letters are for) but to show the agent your story is a story and that it works, i.e. that it has a beginning, middle, and end that all make sense.
If you can inject your synopsis with voice: great! But WTAQ will only comment on voice if it’s inconsistent or interferes with the clarity of your synopsis.
Once the edit is complete, you will receive:
A Track Changes copy of your document (all the editor’s changes will be tracked, allowing you to accept or decline them as you prefer). This copy will include comments from the editor.
How long will the edit take?
5 – 10 business days. (This can vary depending on the editing required and the editor’s workload).
If you require an urgent edit, please contact WTAQ to discuss. Please note urgent edits may incur a small premium (this premium – if applied – will be based on the urgency and demands of the edit).
This premium will be made clear prior to payment. WTAQ will never demand surprise charges once a service has been booked.
Pricing:
WTAQ offers synopsis editing packages ranging from a single pass (round of editing) to three passes. Select your preferred package to be taken to the Book Now page, or scroll down to view an easy-read pricing table.
